Happy March!
You may know that March was named after Martius, or Mars, the Roman god of war. But did you know it used to be (as in before 150 BC) the first month of the year? Which, if you think about it, kind of makes sense. As the days get longer and warmer, plants start to pop out of the ground, life seems to begin again. March is a great time to get outside more, maybe start thinking about your garden, and just enjoy the warmer days and nice outdoor air.
One of the best things about spring is that you can have your windows open, run the heat less, and not turn on the A/C yet. This winter had some really cold days, and along with that has been some painful utility bills. Enjoy some savings this spring, but don’t spend them, save them!
Put them aside in your savings account to pay for the A/C in the Summer. Also, now is a good time to schedule your A/C tune-up. Well-maintained A/C units work better and last longer. Try to schedule routine service off season. It is tough to get an appointment when your A/C stops working and it’s 90 degrees in the shade.
